Terminal Objective
- To learn to manage a Code Blue situation
- To provide rapid (almost immediate) resuscitation and stabilization to victims of medical emergencies or cardio-respiratory arrest within the hospital grounds
Learning Outcomes
- To establish trained and well-equipped medical emergency (Code Blue) teams that can be deployed rapidly from pre-determined departments to the medical emergency site
- To initiate training in BLS skills and use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)
- To initiate placement of BLS equipment in various strategic locations within the hospital grounds to facilitate a rapid response for medical emergencies
- To understand the preparation for Code Blue, including the elements of the crash cart
- To learn about various cardiac arrest algorithms
- To learn post arrest care management through a systematic ABCDE approach
